What We Explore
Our evaluations are strengths-based and holistic. They offer insight into how your child or teen learns, processes information, interacts with others, and experiences the world.

We assess:

Cognitive and learning profile, including IQ, academic skills, problem-solving, and how your child processes and applies information

Skills that support learning, such as attention, working memory, processing speed, and visual-motor integration

Executive functioning: organization, planning, time management, and flexible thinking

Language and social communication, including how your child understands and uses language in different contexts

Social and emotional development: emotional regulation, self-awareness, mood, and peer relationships
Your child typically attends two to three in-person sessions, depending on their age and needs. We use standardized measures in a developmentally supportive and affirming environment. Younger children might leave with stickers or a small prize, and everyone loves our fidget collection (even the adults!).

Although these evaluations are often called “neuropsychological” or “psychoeducational,” our approach goes beyond those labels. We bring all of these elements together to create a comprehensive, meaningful understanding of your child.

One of the most meaningful parts of the process? Every child or teen receives a personalized letter written just for them. In age-appropriate and affirming language, the letter helps them understand what makes their brain unique, what supports can help, and how to feel proud of who they are.

What to Expect:
Our Evaluation Process for Preschoolers through Young Adults
We tailor each evaluation to your child’s age and needs, following a clear, supportive process:

Paperwork
We’ll send digital clinic forms, developmental history, and consent documents to complete.

Questionnaires
Caregivers and teachers complete developmentally appropriate rating forms to help us understand how your child functions day to day.

Caregiver Intake Meeting
A one-hour Zoom meeting with caregivers to understand your concerns, questions, and goals.

Review & Collaboration
Dr. Patel reviews any past evaluations and, with your consent, contacts teachers, therapists, or other care providers for additional input.

In-Person Evaluation Sessions
Your child will attend two to three testing sessions, depending on their age and needs. These sessions are standardized and tailored to be engaging, respectful, and developmentally appropriate. Caregiver Feedback Session
The feedback session is held via Zoom, typically one to two weeks after the final session, where we share insights, answer questions, and walk through practical next steps.

Child-Friendly Feedback
When developmentally appropriate, Dr. Patel also speaks directly with your child or teen in a warm, affirming way—helping them understand their strengths and how their brain works. Every child receives a personalized letter written just for them, in language that honors and supports who they are.

Final Report
A comprehensive, neurodiversity-affirming report is delivered within two to three weeks of the feedback session.
