Virtual Evaluations

While many families choose in-person evaluations, we also recognize the value of flexibility. For families in Illinois, Nevada, and California, we offer virtual evaluations that are designed to be flexible, accessible, and supportive. Available for children, teens, and adults, these evaluations center on autism and social–emotional well-being.

Virtual evaluations can be especially helpful for:

  • Families seeking timely answers without waiting for full in-person testing

  • Individuals who feel anxious in new environments and may struggle with clinic visits

  • Families who live at a distance or need greater scheduling flexibility

What Families Receive:

  • A comprehensive written report with results and tailored recommendations

  • A feedback session to review findings together and plan next steps

  • Clear guidance for supports at home, in school, and in the community

Limitations:

While virtual evaluations are powerful tools for understanding autism and social–emotional development, they are not intended to replace full cognitive or academic testing, which must be completed in person.

How It Works by Age

Kid Playing with Wooden Toys

Younger Children

For toddlers and early elementary-aged children, we gather information through caregiver interviews, questionnaires, and short video submissions from home. Play-based observations give us the opportunity to see communication, social interaction, and behavior in natural contexts—without asking young children to sit in front of a screen.

Older Children & Teens

For school-aged children and adolescents, sessions include direct interaction over a secure telehealth platform, in addition to caregiver input and standardized questionnaires. Activities may involve conversation, problem-solving, or guided play.

Young Adults & Adults

For adults, virtual evaluations focus specifically on the question of autism. This is assessed through a thorough clinical interview, developmental history, standardized measures, and (when helpful) input from parents or partners.
